This is very much an edge-case scenario, so I don't imagine most folks would ever run into this problem. It does turn correctly, however, if you select text that includes all or part of the citation. Inserting these in-line citations into the footnotes works just fine, but the Insert Citation button does not turn into Edit Citation when the text cursor is placed inside this citation. Then, say you need to insert in-line citations into these footnotes in order to back up these tangential claims. I think the issue is with the getZoteroFieldAtSelection function, but I'm not familiar enough with Word and VBA to fix it within a reasonable time.įor example, let's say you're using in-line citations for the document, but you need to occasionally insert footnotes (using Word's native Insert Footnote functionality), where you add aside comments on your main claims or some such. If there is non-trivial code from Mendeley here, we need to retain the copyright notice somewhere.The last functions in ZoteroRibbon (from ZoteroInsertCitationVisible) are call backs from UI XML Ribbon definition. I think I have removed all unnecessary code. I have removed the commented lines and debug instructions. It would be nice to pare this down to the minimum that we actually need. There is a decent amount of code in the dotm file that does not seem to be strictly necessary.

The file is here If the user has only a ribbonized version of Word installed, we should remove the old dot file on upgrade, and we should show a window indicating where to find the new icons. The "Insert Bibliography" becomes inactive when a citation is selected. The "Insert Citation" button becomes inactive when a bibliography is selected. The preferences and the remove zotero codes icons are grouped under a menu. I have updated zotero.dotm with the following changes :
